The APBA is a national organization and the U.S. governing body for powerboat racing as authorized by the UIM (Union Internationale Motonautique). The APBA sanctions over 150 races nationally each year and is the only way to set UIM recognized records, earn nationally recognized points and win National or World Championships. The APBA ensures safety rule and provides insurance for all sanctioned races. All drivers in a sanctioned race must be APBA members, as well as being members of a local club such as SWBRA.
